Announcing my retirement as a WordPress designerREAD THE FULL STORY
I grew up an only child on a small farm horse farm outside of Houston. I was either destined to be an artist, pro barrel racer, or skateboarder. I got close to the latter two becoming a champion barrel racer and sponsored skateboarder, but being the ever creative person that I am I hung up my spurs and put away my skateboard ultimately deciding to attend the Art Institute majoring in graphic and web design.
My Dad, Rick Butts turned me on to WordPress in 2005. He was a well-known internet marketer at the time and had been published by the Wall Street Journal. He was always in search of the next “thing” and especially something that I could follow in his footsteps. Since I was going to school for graphic design he suggested I start making headers to replace the “Hello World” default Kubrik theme header and thus began my first business TheBannerQueen.com which I sold in 2009.
My Dad was my business and life mentor. He never stopped encouraging me towards my goals and he always believed in me. He passed away in January of this year. but his legacy of humor, courage, and passion to succeed will forever live on in me and I hope to pass them to my daughter. He truly shaped the creative person that I am today. Love you Dad.
Self-made WordPress gal who loves God and running her own own shop. Gym rat, skateboarder, wife and new mom. Admittedly addicted to coffee. Current design crush: geometric shapes.
Full stack developer, WordPress fanatic and music nerd. I can hammer out some code or some Scott Joplin, just give me something with keys!
